Poem: Show your head

Uploaded 18th September 2014

Blindfolded, we go
hopes on the line
defeat turned to victory
With each shovel of snow.
Moonlight shone on the problem
Make yourself known!
don’t fold
You looked to me, me to another
Our sisters and brothers
Held hands, opening to the fire
providence crashing down
usual, let go
easy directly
Into the depth
and heart of
This death.
The show unfolds.
You, eager to perform
The nightingale sings
The heavens open-pore
Come out thy voice!
We cry, more, more!
we vow not to take
your memories from the floor
Hold your head high,
Fly, nightingale
Away into the sky.

Thank you Catriona! I am so excited to read ‘Seven Seas’ in Westport tomorrow night.

I took that picture two weeks ago when I was out doing the Jubilee Loop. It is beside the famine graveyard in Rathdrum. I am going there again now for a stroll. 🙂
